TORRANCE, CA (Dec. 14, 2005) - The Motor Press Guild presented its Dean Batchelor Award to Tom Madigan, author of the 324 page book, Edelbrock: Made in USA. This book chronicles the rich history of the Edelbrock Corporation and how hot rodding began through the influences of Vic Edelbrock Sr. and Vic Jr. Established in 1995, the Dean Batchelor Award annually recognizes outstanding work by automotive writers, photographers and broadcasters. Named after Dean Batchelor, one of the icons of automotive journalism, this award is presented to those that best exemplify the exceptional standards that Dean stood for in the automotive industry. This year, there were 15 nominees who were narrowed down to these 5 finalists: Tony Lewin; Complete Book of BMW, Janos Wimpfren; Open Roads & Front Engines, Mark Brinker and Harold Pace; Vintage Road Racing Cars, Phillip Johnson; Six Men Who Built the Modern Auto Industry and Tom Madigan; Edelbrock: Made in USA.
