According to Jack Mayberry, Edelbrock vice president of R & D, "the new open track spec Performer X turbo kit was bolted-on to a mildly modified single cam D16Y8 test engine and then harnessed to one of our in-house Superflow engine dynos. Dialed in @ 20 psi, the combination yielded 283 hp and 232 ft./lbs. of torque." Mayberry added that "#1504 is the most complete bolt-on high-boost turbo kit available and allows the use of just about any engine management of your choice." The Performer X #1504 open track turbo features a Garrett GT28R liquid-cooled ball-bearing turbocharger that comes as a pre-assembled unit with a Ni-resist cast exhaust manifold and exhaust elbow for extreme durability and the simplest possible installation.
