Edelbrock Performer X Turbo System Provides 60% Power Gains For Honda Civic SOHC VTEC

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Nov. 5, 2002) – It created quite an industry-wide buzz at a “sneak-peek” viewing at SEMA IAS, and now Edelbrock is ready for the official introduction at the SEMA Show of one of its most highly anticipated products in years, the Performer X turbo system (PN 1500) for owners of 1996-00 Honda Civic SOHC VTEC D16Y8 cars.

Like all Edelbrock products, the turbo kit – which provides more than a 60% boost in power – comes complete and is simple to install, offering Civic owners an option to costly non-emissions legal engine swaps. The Garrett T28 ball-bearing turbocharger comes pre-assembled as one unit with a Ni-resist cast exhaust manifold, a cast iron exhaust elbow and inlet oil and water lines for the simplest possible installation.

The system includes a high-performance Performer X intake manifold with four extra injectors and a separate electronic controller to add fuel under boosted conditions. It also features an oversized Spearco intercooler and Tial blow-off valve. The Edelbrock exhaust manifold and elbow are designed for maximum flow at high-velocity for quicker turbo spool-up. Edelbrock has included a windshield pillar mounted boost gauge and pre-assembled Russell oil, water and fuel lines to make this one of the most complete kits on the market. Available early spring ’03. Emissions-legal status pending.

In 2003, the Edelbrock Corporation will celebrate its 65th anniversary of manufacturing and marketing the highest quality aftermarket performance automotive and motorcycle products.

Edelbrock’s ever-expanding product line now features more than 6,500 performance products, including exhaust headers, camshafts, carburetors, aluminum manifolds, exhaust systems, throttle bodies, suspension and shocks, EFI systems, nitrous systems, aluminum cylinder heads, crate engines, brake and fuel lines and fluid transfer products.

The Edelbrock Corporation continues to be an active member of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), an organization Vic Edelbrock Jr. helped establish in 1963 as the “Speed Equipment Manufacturers Association.” Side by side, SEMA, the Edelbrock Corporation and the automotive aftermarket industry have each experienced tremendous growth since the 1960s.
