2008 REV'VED UP FOR KIDS CHARITY CAR SHOW
On April 26th through 27th we hosted our 3rd Annual Rev'ved Up 4 Kidz charity Gala Dinner and Car Show. This year's event was in honor of the Historic Trans Am and their racing history.
The weekend started Saturday night with a Gala Dinner at Vic's garage. The evening was hosted by Alan Taylor of Car and Driver Radio and included both a live and silent auction as well as live music from "The Answer". Chef Michel Schafer of the Depot Restaurant prepared a fabulous dinner. The evening was attended by many racing and automotive notables such as George Follmer, Parnelli Jones, Barry Meguiar, Roy Brizio and Leon Kaplan to name a few. The Gala Dinner was attended by 250 people who bid on items such as a $5,000 garage makeover from Gladiator Garage, a black Shelby hood signed by Carroll Shelby, a diamond pendant donated by Medawars Jewelers of Rolling Hills Estates and a weeks stay at a beautiful resort home in Puerto Penasco Mexico.
The weekend's festivities continued on Sunday with over 400 cars in attendance on a beautiful California day. There were over 20 original Trans Am cars along with several cars from the Boss 302 registry. The car show included something for everyone from motorcycles to street rods, dragsters and various rare vehicles. An estimated 10,000 people walked the streets around Vic's garage to view the amazing display of automotive muscle and hot rod culture.
Our efforts were very successful, and we raised over $160,000 for the kids and families of the Center for Learning Unlimited. We are already planning for next year, if fact we already have entries for the car show! So mark your calendars for April 25th and 26th of 2009... it's going to be a blast!!
