In Memory of Bobby Meeks An Automotive Legend Remembered...
When Vic Sr. opened his first shop at a 3-pump Gilmore Service Station in Los Angeles, California, one of his first moves was to clear out years of clutter from the old facility. While building workbenches and a storage bin, Vic noticed a young boy standing just outside the doors of the stall that he was working in, staring at the mess. Young Bobby Meeks seemed drawn to the mystery of what was going on in the old garage and had come over to investigate. When Vic asked “You lookin’ for work?”, Meeks replied “Yeah, I guess so.” Then Vic said “Well, come over here and grab a broom and I’ll show you what to clean up.” From those humble beginnings, Bobby Meeks matured into a world-class racing mechanic, helping Vic Sr. win countless races and build the Edelbrock reputation for performance. He was even there beside Vic the day his only son, Vic Edelbrock Jr. was born. Bobby stayed with the company after Vic Sr.’s death, and helped young Vic Jr. turn Edelbrock into a major force in the aftermarket industry. Bobby Meeks was a true “Gearhead” and master of his trade. We are proud to dedicate the Edelbrock 2007 Performance Catalog to the memory of Bobby Meeks who passed away in August of 2006. Return to Edelbrock History. |
